The killer whales are part of the dolphin family and are carnivores; they are the biggest dolphin. There are three different species of killer whales, Resident Killer Whales, Transient Killer whales, and Off Shore Killer whales. Killer whales are black and white. They are one of the world’s most powerful predators. They eat marine mammals, such as seals, sea lions and small whales. Killer whales also eat squid, fish, and seabirds. They can be found in warm water near the Equator and cold water. Killer whales hunt in deadly pods of 40 whales. Killer whales are very protective of their young; the mothers give birth every three to ten years. They live up to 50 to 80 years, weigh up to six tons, and are 23 to 32 feet big. You can see Killer whales at Sea World and other aquarium shows. Killer whales have never been extensively hunted by humans.
